Day 10 Naxos

We woke up in paradise. Truly, every alley and angle is picturesque. We are already questioning if we have to leave. Today was open for us to roam, so we just went and ate and did what came our way.

Highlights from Day 10

  • Two blocks from our apartment was the cutest crepe place that had an entire vegan menu. We may have let our excitement lead to over ordering (a repeating problem for us). We loved watching her make the crepes through the window. Liam has strong feelings about his sandwich and has continued to bring it up still days later.
  • The boys thought Amber was so cool in her hat, that they decided to follow suit. Now we are island ready (apparently this is only from Amber’s POV).
  • We walked back toward the port and found our way to two different rocky beaches. These rocks were gorgeous colors and so smooth. The turquoise water is crystal clear. We sat and skipped stones and looked up at the Temple of Apollo or back at the houses of Naxos.
  • We then walked up the hill to the Temple of Apollo. This is the first thing you see in the Naxos port. Strangely enough, the nice young man who took our picture was from Alexandria, VA right by DC. Liam told us all the mythology surrounding Apollo.
  • Our lunch at the port was one of Liam and Amber’s favorite meals yet. We’ve gotten in the habit of ordering 3 different entrees and then eating family style.
  • We then headed to a sandy beach by our apartment and set up shop for the rest of the afternoon. This looked like use getting two chairs for Amber and Michael to relax in, but turned into two chairs for Liam and Michael to nap in while Amber read at the shoreline. I’m pretty sure we could add a tab to this website dedicated to all the weird places and positions the Sawyers have slept in.
  • Our dinner took us on a on a falafel hunt. Michael was determined to find it. It was indeed the best falafel we’ve ever had. One of the Naxos traditions we’ve learned is serving watermelon at the end of the meal as a sweet pallet cleanser.

Elizabeth, check out the restaurant name!

  • We ended with a perfect night of strolling and window shopping. You can’t make me leave.
