Highlights from Day 19:
- Today was for strolling the streets of Zurich and setting off for our final destination, London. Our Zurich hotel was…a bit lackluster. So while we had time to lazily lie around, we didn’t particularly want to. We saw on the website that the buffet restaurant we went to the night before also had a buffet brunch. We were thrilled at the prospect, so we set off to return for round two: breakfast addition. We walked in to find rows and rows…of the exact same food we’d had offered the night before. Apparently the brunch is only for the weekends. We were already in too deep, so dinner for breakfast it is! Luckily the options were so vast, none of us had the same dishes from the night before. Weird, but still yummy.
- After “brunch”, we strolled through the streets for what Zürich is known for: shopping. Very unscale shopping. We once again walked past Georgio Armani, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, and of course Watches of Switzerland. There were watch stores everywhere. We all felt the need to cover our Apple Watches like they were an act of betrayal. It took some time, but we finally found a store we could venture into, a book binder store filled with fresh notebooks of all shapes and sizes. New pens and journals are the Achilles heel for all 3 Sawyers.

- Since watches were a bit out of our souvenir budget, Liam went with the next best Switzerland purchase:

- Much like Rome, Zurich has water springs and fountains everywhere for drinking. This is definitely something we wish there was more of in DC.

- After a bit more shopping, we landed at a burger restaurant before heading to the airport. Zurich has by far been the most expensive place we’ve visited. No meal has been less than $25 a person.
- After so many trains and buses and ferries, it was a bit strange to be back in an airport. We had some extra time, so we found a lounge and spent some time writing blogs before heading out.

- Heathrow airport is a good hour outside of the city center, so we hopped in a black cab once we landed. This felt like a mini tour with the big windows and moon roof. Just a sneak peek of what was to come. Well…for Michael and I at least. Liam was out and missed it all.

- By the time we got to our hotel, it was 8 and we were ravenous! We found a grab and go sushi and noodles place before heading back to the hotel. We ended the night with a little Olympics. We were very excited to finally get to watch them in ENGLISH!

- Best feature of the hotel? The shower has a transparent wall into the room that you could frost over with the push of button. If you’ve seen Ted Lasso season 3, think Keeley’s office. Did one of us take a bath while watching the Olympics? Yes. I’ll let you guess which one.
